Matteo Darmian quit Manchester United after speaking to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – Metro.co.uk

Matteo Darmian decided to leave Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear he was surplus to requirements, reports say.

The United boss has overseen an exodus at the club this summer, with Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia all leaving.

Darmian became the latest player to exit on Monday, joining Italian side Parma on a permanent deal.

The Italian has been at the club since 2015, but the Daily Star claims Darmian had a honest chat with Solskjaer.

Darmian was told by Solskjaer he was not in his plans and the United boss was happy to sanction the sale.

United, though, have included a clause that will see them collect a portion of any future sale, should Parma cash in on Darmian.

Solskjaer and United have worked hard this summer to rid the squad of fringe players and add quality.

Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all arrived at Old Trafford this summer and gone straight into Solskjaer’s side.

However, despite the busy transfer window, United have had frustrating start to the season with just one win four Premier League games so far.
