Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton, had her very first day at school this week. The four-year-old princess joined her older brother Prince George, who is now in Year Two, at Thomas’s Battersea. Princess Charlotte is joining one of three reception classes made up of 21 students this year at the £6,305 a term school. But how have royal fans been struck by the striking resemblance Princess Charlotte bears to her father?
Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in London to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Two days after she was born, her name was announced as Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, with her middle names making a touching tribute to her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and departed grandmother, Princess Diana.
Her godparent’s are her parents’ cousins Laura Fellowes and Adam Middleton, as well as family friends Thomas van Straubenzee, James Meade, and Sophie Carter.
Before this week, Princess Charlotte had been educated at the Willcocks Nursery School, near her family’s home in Kensington Palace.

But now, she will be attending Thomas’s Battersea alongside her big brother.
Royal fans excited to catch a glimpse of Charlotte on her very first day of school were astonished to find she hold a staggering resemblance to her dad, Prince William.
In various photographs taken of Prince William, between 1985 and 1987, the strong resemblance between the father and daughter is clear.
Charlotte has clearly inherited a number of features from her father, such as his nose, round cheeks, hair colour and the Cupid’s bow shape of his lips, as well as a penchant for a mischievous grin.

But it is not only Prince William who bears an uncanny resemblance to Princess Charlotte.
One particular photograph of Diana, taken when she was aged four, highlights their similarities.
The grandmother and granddaughter, who will tragically never meet, share the same shape eyes, noses and round cheeks.

Unlike Princess Charlotte, however, Diana was home schooled under the supervision of her governess Gertrude Allen until the age of nine.
After that time the future people’s princess attended boarding school in Norfolk, followed by the exclusive West Heath Girls’ School in Kent, from age 12 to 16.
Princess Charlotte also bears a striking resemblance to her great grandmother, who help to institute a new law in 2013 which removed male bias from the royal succession.
In images of the Queen taken during her youth, she shares a number of physical similarities with the four-year-old princess including similar shaped eyes and eyelids, the same shape of lips and the same rounded cheeks with dimples to boot.

Princess Charlotte was said to be “very excited” about starting school, the Duke of Cambridge said as he dropped her off for her first day.
The Cambridge family, minus the youngest Prince Louis, walked together across the playground where they met the head of the lower school at Thomas’s Battersea.
Her uniform includes a navy pleated skirt and cardigan, white socks and black shoes.
Kate Middleton carried her daughter’s backpack, which was decorated with a pink key-ring in the shape of a pony’s head.
