VAR wrecked Tottenham’s hopes of finally winning away from home in their 2-1 defeat at Leicester.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs looked to be heading for a first Prem away victory since January when Serge Aurier lashed into the net after Harry Kane’s opener – but Aurier’s effort was chalked off by the video ref and then the Foxes netted twice to seal all three points.

EX SPURS attacker Nacer Chadli has claimed he never had the ‘full confidence’ of manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Belgian signed for Tottenham under Andre Villas-Boas in 2013 – the same summer that Gareth Bale left White Hart Lane.
Pochettino arrived a year later and Chadli subsequently enjoyed the best top-flight goal-scoring year of his career, netting 11 Premier League goals in the 2014/15 season.
The 30-year-old eventually found starts harder to come by after the arrivals of Dele Alli and Son Heung-min, however, and he told HLN: “I had great years at Tottenham.
“Unfortunately I never got the full confidence of the coach.
“That’s why I thought it better to go to West Brom, where I was very happy until my injuries in my second year. I made a lot of progress there.”
Chadli left the Baggies for Monaco in 2018 – before joining up with international team-mate Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht in the summer.
HARRY WINKS has ‘liked’ two tweets criticising VAR after Serge Aurier’s goal was disallowed by the controversial technology on Saturday afternoon.
The Ivorian’s strike would have put Tottenham 2-0 up at the King Power Stadium – but after a lengthy delay Son Heung-min was adjudged to have been a fraction offside in the build-up.
Leicester equalised shortly after, before James Maddison’s strike from range sealed the three points for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Winks took to Twitter and ‘liked’ these two tweets.
SOME Tottenham fans have slated Victor Wanyama after the Kenyan made his first appearance of the season against Leicester on Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old was linked with summer moves to the likes of Celtic and Club Brugge – but ended up staying at Spurs.
The Kenyan replaced Moussa Sissoko after 67 minutes at the King Power Stadium with the Lilywhites leading 1-0 – but the Foxes equalised just two minutes later through Ricardo Pereira.
James Maddison then scored the winner with five minutes left – to once again send Mauricio Pochettino’s side home without three points on the road in the Premier League.
One Spurs fan tweeted: ” The introduction of Victor Wanyama coupled with countless missed opportunities is the reason we lost this game. “
Another wrote: “If you wanna be in the game always forget that s*** @VictorWanyama ,he’s crappy… He’s s***, he cost us all the way.”
Pochettino had other midfield options in Eric Dier and youngster Oliver Skipp at his disposal on the bench – but opted to give the ex Southampton man his first minutes of the season.
FORMER TOTTENHAM striker Gary Lineker has claimed that the way VAR is being implemented is ‘crap’.
Lineker, 58, tweeted “Even though it’s worked for @lcfc today, the way VAR is being used is crap. Could and should benefit the game but at present it’s sucking the life out of it.”
Serge Aurier’s second-half strike was ruled out after a lengthy VAR delay in which the video officials deemed that Son Heung-min was a fraction offside in the build-up to the goal.
This would have put Spurs 2-0 up. Instead Leicester quickly equalised before James Maddison’s strike gave the Foxes all three points at the King Power Stadium.
MAURICIO POCHETTINO gave his post match thoughts to Spurs TV after this afternoon’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Leicester City.
